Getting out and giving back

So - Shine was out and about in July volunteering to pack people's shopping for them at Tesco.  For some of our Shine girls - this was their first opportunity to volunteer in an organised capacity and their feedback was that they felt a sense of pride in what they had achieved.

Of course - asking complete strangers if they would like some help was really difficult at first but as the girls got used to what they were doing so their confidence grew.  Some people weren't interested but the majority accepted the offer of help gratefully.  

We were totally overwhelmed when at the end of the morning we counted the pennies that had been collected from the generous shoppers and found we had raised over £100.

Thank you Shine girls for all your help.  We hope this will encourage to get out and give back again in the future.
