Who needs the Oscars?

The Oscars might be the biggest event of the year in terms of Hollywood but we want to introduce you to the next big thing that's going to take Bournemouth by storm!  Shine intends to hold its first one day Health and Wellbeing event for teenage girls this Summer.

Shine's vision is to see every teenage girl believe that she is valuable, has skills and talents to offer, understands her ability to make good choices and discovers the unique beauty in herself and others unencumbered by societies preconceptions.

How on earth are we going to achieve this for 'every teenage girl' when our courses only accept 12 girls at a time and we currently run a maximum of 18 courses a year?  The biggest change we are making is to launch our first Health and Wellbeing event in partnership with BHlive.  This will enable girls who haven't had the opportunity to attend a Shine course, to be inspired to look after their mental and physical wellbeing.

We hope to have nearly 400 girls attend our first Health and Wellbeing Event at the Pavilion in Bournemouth on 12th June 2017.  Schools that we partner with across Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch have all been invited to attend and we have been overwhelmed by their enthusiasm to be a part of this exciting new venture.

The day will be a mixture of workshops and activities from dance to mindfulness, drama to football.  There will be quizzes with prizes and a healthy eating cafe - all designed to inspire our young people to look after their physical and mental wellbeing.

Confirmed exhibitors at our event are:

Dorset Mind, The Youth Service, YMCA, Aim Academy, Pavilion Dance, BHLive
