Bournemouth Mayor's Volunteer Awards

Last Tuesday The Shine Project was invited to The Bournemouth Mayor's Parlour for the presentation for the Volunteer Awards. Shine was nominated because of all hard work that all our volunteers put in to supporting courses, being trustees, managing finances, fundraising and generally contributing to ensuring that The Shine Project is a successful ongoing charity.

We were humbled to be included in such an awe inspiring evening as there were amazing stories of individuals who had given up so much of their time to volunteer.  Both young and old were represented (with a lady of 82 being awarded the prize for volunteer of the year).

Many congratulations to Bournemouth Sleepsafe who were awarded the Volunteer group of the year.  Sleep safe is a group of 7 churches who each provide accommodation and food one night per week for the homeless as well as providing signposting and support for getting the individuals off the street permanently.
